A job vacancy has arisen within the Operations Department of Letshego Bank Namibia for the above-mentioned position, the details of the role are outlined below:
Purpose of the Job:
To ensure the efficient processing and control of Payments and Settlement functions in accordance with established procedures with additional daily tasks as directed by the departmental Supervisor / Manager.
Key Accountabilities:
1) Daily processing, control of related financial transactions and inward / outward EFT, Cards and NISS transactions in accordance with documented procedures and in accordance with the various settlement windows (Namclear, NISS)
2) Ensure all payments and settlements are made on time in accordance with local cut-off times and documented procedures
3) Monitor and report daily position of Bank of Namibia settlement accounts
4) Provide Supervisor with updated information on outstanding items to minimise risk.
5) Daily verification, matching of all clearing and settlement accounts (EFT Suspense, Unpaids etc.) and investigate / query all outstanding and unmatched / open entries.
6) Monitor and provide supporting comments daily, weekly and monthly on aging entries outstanding on the clearing related accounts to Supervisor
7) Running and execution of daily reports
8) Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations for submission to Supervisor (as per departmental and Finance department reconciliation plan)
9) Prompt and accurate delivery of funds to customers and banks to create a positive corporate image and minimise claims.
10) Filing and Archiving: maintain and manage treasury and settlement files, bank records, financial logs and reports
11) Maintain, manage and update settlement data
12) Review and ensure compliance with policies and procedures and country regulatory requirements
13) Provide support on audit issues pertaining to operational issues, including management response, follow up, correction and reporting
14) Complete training and development activities including mandatory AML training
15) All other duties aligned with Payments and settlements as directed by Management,
16) Involvement/participation and testing of projects activities within the payments and settlements space affecting the bank and/or industry.
