Purpose of the Job:
The ICT Systems Engineer is a technical specialist aiding in the design and formulation of procedures and standards on all aspects of ICT infrastructure. The responsibility spans to include supporting and coordinating service delivery, and providing inputs to projects for defining, planning and executing identified deliverables. The incumbent is also responsible to the provision of periodic reports to management in regard to the status, potential risks, weaknesses, threats and opportunities of the Letshego Bank Namibia systems infrastructure.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Systems and Network
1) Managing and Monitoring of LBN Data Centre
2) Expected to be on-call (rotational) when planned
3) Managing and monitoring Virtual Environment
4) Managing and Monitoring Backup and Replication Environment
5) Routine maintenance on Data Centre Environments.
6) Collect information to analyses and evaluate existing or proposed systems
7) Research, plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade Data Centre Infrastructure components.
8) Research and recommend hardware and software development, purchase, and use.
9) Conduct technical research on system/infrastructure upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current system/infrastructure.
10) Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure incidents.
11) Continuously monitor health status and performance of the Data Centre components to ensure proactive problem resolution and general stability.
12) Ensure that replication of the DR Recovery Centre is occurring at all times and that the backup plans are in place and adhered to.
13) Responsible for the Disaster Recovery drills bi-annual and flex clone running and documentation of the outcome and resolution of exceptions
14) Provide full support over the Active directory, Exchange servers, VM Ware, Veeam, servers, storage devices, and monitoring tools
2. Support and Analysis
1) Select among authorized procedures and seek assistance when guidelines are inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise.
2) Document system problems and resolutions for future reference.
3) Presenting proposals to management and users;
4) Working closely with developers and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction;
3. Management Activities
1) Planning and coordination of DR drills and testing
2) Ensure accurate and timeously delivered requests
3) Work as a team member with other technical staff, such as development.
4) Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
5) Identifying options for potential solutions and assessing them for both technical and business suitability;
6) Creating logical and innovative solutions to complex problems;
7) Drawing up specific proposals for modified or replacement systems;
8) Ensuring that budgets are adhered to and deadlines met;
9) Drawing up a testing schedule for the complete system;
10) Overseeing the implementation of a new system, system upgrades, deployment of hardware, etc;
11) Planning and working flexibly to a deadline;
12) Keeping abreast of technical as well as industry sector developments.
13) Responsible for monitoring and ensuring that all replication to the backup servers is happening
14) Maintenance of AD.
15) Maintain Group Policies GPOs and indemnity forms
16) Liaison with external vendors and service providers on ICT Infrastructure equipment, resources, services etc.
17) Negotiation with vendors on agreements, hardware, software and any related labour/products on the Infrastructure.
18) Relationship management with key vendors.
19) Monitoring of service level agreements with relevant service providers, monitoring and scrutinizing statistics and other managed services and making recommendations as needed.
Core Competencies
1) Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of writing purchase justifications, capable of writing proposals or papers, acting as a vendor liaison, making presentations to customers or client audiences or professional peers, and working closely with upper management.
2) Independent problem-solving, self-direction.
3) Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes.
4) A solid understanding of operating systems; comfortable with most aspects of operating system administration; for example, configuration of mail systems, system installation and configuration.
5) Virtual Environment, Veeam experience
Knowledge and Experience Required of Job Holder:
Grade 12 (with 25 points)
A degree in Computer Science or alternative relevant qualification
5 years continuous relevant experience
Two years of system administration experience.
Familiarity with networked/distributed computing environments.
Works under general direction from senior management.
Experience with MS Active Directory, MS Exchange, VM Ware, Netapp, Veeam, SRM
Training/ experience in MCP, MCSE
