A job vacancy has arisen within the Operations Department of Letshego Bank Namibia for the above-mentioned position, the details of the role are outlined below:
Purpose of the Job:
The Junior Systems Engineer responsible for the Support of the Letshego technology services. Responsible for Maintaining, monitoring, and supporting the IT infrastructure environment.
May work with project teams to deliver the objectives of the project, in their area of responsibility.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Installing and maintaining operating system environments on IT Infrastructure.
2. Identifying, and Updating any software and hardware as demanded.
3. Supports multiple systems and/or associated applications related to the IT infrastructure
4. Performs routine maintenance tasks for IT infrastructure systems such as AD, Exchange, and all other shared services,
5. Performs creation of scheduled backups, patch management and hot fixes, and ensures that these scheduled events take place
6. Manage the Virtual Software environment which includes the Hypervisor, Storage and Networking elements
7. Manage Virtualized environment comprising of systems with Microsoft and Linux Operating systems
8. Perform routine tasks on, Supporting Software eg. Active Directory, Microsoft Office 365, and server and workstation patching with SCCM/WSUS
9. Perform activities of Performance and Capacity management of the Virtualized Infrastructure and ensure that sufficient provision for growth and project demands exists, and timeous notifications of capacity shortfall is provided to enable provision of demands or procurement of physical requirements
10. Develop and maintain Infrastructure design documentation that reflects the current environment setup and Business solutions
11. Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with Group’s policies and applicable Country Policies.
12. Identify or Anticipate hardware and software issues on IT Infrastructure, troubleshoot, correct and develop mitigation processes/solution and escalate any incidents as per SLA, and for awareness to the IT Infrastructure team
13. Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware upgrades, patches and reconfigurations.
Manage the physical environment of the server and network racks including cable management, labelling and documentation
15. Provision and deploy new servers (VMs) as required.
16. Demonstrate a sound understanding of technology relevant to the work unit, and identify and select the most appropriate technology for assigned tasks
17. Responsible for communicating and/or escalating infrastructure issues to third parties as and when required.
18. Perform DR and BCM activities in accordance with business operations and banking compliance requirements, including active participation in all scheduled DR and BCM tests
19. Planning and coordination with Internal/External auditors to ensure compliance with best practice and auditors’ recommendation
20. Maintain hardware warranties and ensure software license compliance
21. Maintain Domain names by facilitating new registrations and record updates as necessary
Required Knowledge and Skills:
1. Grade 12 Certificate (25 points)
2. A firm understand of Server, Storage and Network Virtualization as well as Server operating systems (Required)
3. Some Understanding of Voice and Call Centre Technology and interoperation (Would be Advantageous)
4. Some understanding of Networking technology and associated routing protocols (Would be Advantageous)
5. Minimum of 3 years overall Technology experience with an expected minimum of 2 years exposure/experience in IT Infrastructure
6. Certification related industry certifications of the following:
6.1 Microsoft Certifications (MCSE, MCSA, MCITP) – Mandatory
6.2 VMware Certifications (VCP) – Advantageous
6.3 Cisco certifications (CCNA) – Advantageous
6.4 Juniper Certification (JNCIA-Junos) - Advantageous
6.5 Fortinet Certification (NSE4) - Advantageous
