Introduction |
The Head Group Operational Risk is responsible for creating a best-in-class operational risk function for Letshego working in collaboration with the various business lines and country risk functions. The incumbent will also create and implement an operational risk management framework that sets out enterprise-level governance, policies and practices to proactively identify, assess, measure, report on, mitigate and control operational risk exposures associated with Letshego’s operations at all levels of and across the Group

Specification |
•Updating Operational Risk Policy to ensure that the policy reflects best practice.
•Develop methodologies and practices to build an operational risk framework that drives risk-aware, transparent decision making and predictable financial performance. This includes second line oversight of first line risk functions such as the execution of the RCSAs and control validation. •Responsible for the full range of Operational Risk Management functions. •Ensures the Operational Risk Monitoring Program is robust based on industry practices and regulatory expectations with a resulting program that works effectively to report on Letshego’s risk profile and reins in excessive risks/risky activities. •Formulates, in conjunction with senior management and the Group Risk Management Committee, Letshego’s operational risk management Monitoring Program and supporting policies to ensure alignment with, and influence of, the risk appetite. •Establishes Letshego’s Operational Risk Management Governance Structure to provide appropriate transparency and reporting. •Establishes programs to cover the full range of activities such as risk assessments, key risk indicators, loss reporting and analysis, and scenario analysis. •Establishes organizational structures that provide appropriate coverage for and coordination of the Letshego’s operational risk management programs, monitoring, reporting, training, and overall execution of the operational risk function. •Oversees the establishment of various monitoring routines, tools (including technical solutions) and templates, operational risk management standards and procedures; developing operational risk management analysis reports; developing approval procedures and guidelines on operational risk limits by type of product and/or transaction (where appropriate); and in establishing management and administrative procedures to ensure adherence to policies. •Establish risk management metrics/scorecards and dashboards to track performance and monitor/identify trends across Letshego. •Partners across the Group with Country CROs and other control functions including Internal Audit to ensure the program alignment with minimum duplication and no material gaps in risk management (combined assurance). •Counsels country CROs on operational risk management issues. •Ensures Letshego stays on the forefront of technological development and the digitization of operational risk. •Member of the Group Management Risk Committee and the Group Risk Committee. •Liaison with external regulatory or legal bodies on operational risk management matters and issues. •May serve on industry committees. |

Requirements |
•Minimum Risk Management Degree or BComm Auditing
•Postgraduate degree in Risk Management •Proven experience in a management role •Knowledge of global operational risk management principles, practices and regulatory issues (Basel etc.) •Minimum of 5 years Operational Risk experience within the Financial Services industry •Knowledge of Banking law, rules and regulations. •Experience in working with Audit and Regulators |
