Position Title: Group IT Cloud and Infrastructure Lead

Reports to: Group IT Technology Services Manager

Education: BSc Computer Science/Information Systems. A Master’s in Computer Science/Information Systems or MBA is a plus.

Experience:10 years of experience in an IT Management role with a focus on infrastructure and cloud transformation for the past 5 years.

 

Certifications    

• AWS (e.g. Solution Architect), Google Cloud, Azure, Agile or PMP or equivalent)

• Security and Cisco certifications are an advantage, e.g. CISSP, CISM, CCNP

Knowledge        

• Knowledge of Broad IT Infrastructure and Connectivity covering networking, storage, servers, databases, and public cloud

•A good understanding of the software development lifecycle

•Knowledge of Cloud Technologies and the migration of workloads to these technologies

•Understanding of agile, and DevOps methodologies

•Knowledge and experience working with SQL, Kubernetes, Spark, Hadoop, Scala, Kafka, Redshift, Docker, and Linux

•Experience with RMF with experience in security compliance, accreditation, and authorization

•Strong familiarity with AWS or other major cloud providers.

•Deep familiarity with AWS IAM, EC2, EKS, and sub-account structures

•Complete understanding of the Kubernetes, Containerization, and Cloud Native Architecture

 

Skills     

• Strong internal and external stakeholder management and relationship-building skills

•Ability to design Cloud operating model with a broad understanding of required Cloud operations capabilities, processes, roles/responsibilities & organisation structures.

•Ability to produce clear, concise, relevant, and accurate documentation based on captured requirements and information gathered from stakeholders/subject matter experts.

•Proficiency with virtualization, either KVM, ESX

 

Main Purpose of the Job

To provide strategic oversight and execution of key Cloud transformation projects in close collaboration with the product, operations, sales, finance, and marketing teams.

 

Critical Deliverables /Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute on the Group Cloud strategy
  • Serve as a single point of contact for all Cloud/infrastructure-related activities, enquiries, and issues. 
  • Assist development teams with assessing their application and developing a path to the Cloud
  • Participate in the design of Cloud-based infrastructure solutions working alongside Cloud Architects and service domains (e.g., Web, Database, Storage, Networking, IAM) to ensure that initial and anticipated future business requirements are represented.
  • Ensure that the technical artefacts required to implement infrastructure solutions are developed, reviewed, and approved. 
  • Work with Information Security (InfoSec) ensuring that the proposed infrastructure solution complies with Letshego's Cloud Security Guidelines and that all public cloud Services utilized adhere to the Minimum Security Baseline established for each service. 
  • Ensure that all of the different service domains (e.g., Web, Database, Storage, Networking, and IAM) are delivering their piece within the Letshego ecosystem. 
  • Serve as a proxy between the different service domains and the client when questions or issues surface. 
  • Where possible, validate that the infrastructure solution matches the approved blueprint design.
  • Manage all post-handover configuration activities (e.g., account/user management, application registration, certificates, etc.)
  • Contribute to vendor management tasks through regular feedback, ensuring suppliers are paid timeously, and participation in supplier on boarding activities including due diligence.
  • Support Letshego affiliated countries through testing, and where issues are thought to require infrastructure adjustments, to work with the delivery team to make the required changes. 
  • Interact with management and technical teams to define Cloud transformation requirements and identify solutions consistent with defined terms, methodology, policy, and regulations.
  • Prepare and present detailed roadmaps and plans to transition to the defined end-state cloud architecture; estimate cloud total cost of ownership (TCO) and potential return on investment (ROI)
  • Collaborates with Cloud architects to conduct assessments, develop Cloud migration strategies and a multi-year journey map covering Cloud foundation, Cloud migration and Cloud operations.
  • Guide the team to build, configure, and manage cloud compute and data storage infrastructure for multiple instances of AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Lead the Cloud Infrastructure teams to manage VPCs, security groups, and user access to our various public cloud systems and services.
  • Continuously assist the business control costs, for example, by categorizing and tagging assets running in the cloud, optimization of cloud workloads through stopping or right sizing instances, snapshotting and deleting volumes, or proposing different subscription models
  • Technically lead on systems, networking, and capacity planning for new infrastructure projects for our engineering, technical support, and DevOps teams.
  • Manage Letshego environments to be compliant with industry-standard regulations for security and reliability.
  • Drives use and understanding of standards, processes, tools, methodology and structure for cloud adoption & management. Support the usage of these tools through training and communications
  • Participate in monitoring of Cloud transformation projects on an ongoing basis - evaluating progress, quality, budget, and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure best practices for Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), & Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)  and private cloud solutions
  • Identify the best cloud solutions to successfully meet the strategic architecture needs of the organization
  • Engineer, plan, and implement hybrid- & multi-cloud technical solutions that balance simplicity, standards, scalability, extensibility, supportability, security, cost, and integrity requirements
  • Document engineering standards, proposals, and/or recommendations for system design, engineering changes, and configuration management relating to cloud infrastructure  
  • Regularly evaluate existing cloud infrastructure to identify risks or opportunities for improvement
  • Support prototyping/proof of concept & troubleshooting of complex systems spanning between on- and off-premises cloud environments
  • Be part of an agile team to cross functional boundaries and mentor others on cloud services
  • Assist in the development and training of direct reports and peers for the adoption and management of cloud assets
  • Lead a team of specialists responsible for operations of networking, SDWAN, server, storage, voice, and  cloud infrastructure
  • Perform quarterly goal setting and performance reviews for team members and direct reports
