Job summary:
The incumbent  is responsible for the overall success of the branch by providing leadership to the lending and operations staff, deposit mobilisation, to provide properly appraised, efficiently administrated, quality loans to the defined target group as defined in the branch business strategy while keeping control and ensuring efficient processes.
 
Key Accountabilities:
1. Ability to meet targets - Highly motivated self-starter who can operate well with minimal supervision
2. Develop and formulate the appropriate branch business strategy and annual business plan together with Management.
3. Develop business growth and marketing strategies hinged on surpassing the branch targets without compromising portfolio quality and without losing the focus on customer experience.
3. Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day running of all branch operations including management of operational risk and credit risk.
4. Ensure reliable communication and information transfer between head office and branch staff. Chair the branch staff weekly planning and monitoring meetings, and the weekly branch credit committee on arrears.
5. Monitor daily repayments and maintain a high loan repayment quality and very low Portfolio at Risk (PAR). Make every effort to recover non-performing loans.
6. Ensure all the processes for clients in arrears are documented as required.
7. Ensure all institutional policies, standards and procedures are adhered to by all branch staff; ensure control and efficiency are maintained at all times.
8. Attend to the external examiners, internal auditors and Resident Internal Control Officer (RICO). 
9. Provide direction for overall branch development and efficient management and advise the credit manager and head of branch operations on time. Including conformity with branch design, corporate branding.
10. Ensure budgets are adhered to, portfolio targets and strategic plans are achieved, branch activities are conducted with a high commitment to business and customer service as well as Letshego’s institutional values. 
11. Recommend development of operational policies, procedures as well as products and services according to market requirements; stay up to date on relevant market developments and trends.
12. Ensure constant staff development, motivation, support, training and mentoring with the aim of reaching business and personal growth targets as well as improving their understanding of Letshego’s mission and vision. 
13. Develop and monitor accomplishment of activities within work plans for branch office staff and evaluates performance of branch office staff on a monthly basis, weekly for lending staff.
14. Assist the bank in hiring and training where required.
15. Chair the loan committee according to his/her limit, ensure all the loan documentation is in the file and the necessary lending processes are adhered to.
16. Ensure internal control processes are adhered to and all branch documentation especially the client and finance files have all the required approvals and signatures. Ensure their integrity and 17. prompt clearance of any open items.
18. Ensure confidentiality of all customer information is maintained at any point in time.
19. Conduct randomly chosen field visits to credit groups and individual clients in the branch area of coverage.
20. Develop brief and timely reports (Portfolio and Finance) on overall progress of the branch on a monthly basis. 
21. Ensure cash flow plans are received by the head office in a timely fashion.
22. Maintain a positive relationship with staff, other organizations, and local authorities and keeps in regular communication with local microfinance organizations.
23. Other duties as assigned by the Management.
 
 
Knowledge and Experience Required of Job Holder:
1. A degree in any business studies or a Diploma in any business or related area will be an added advantage. 
2. At least 5 years working experience in a microfinance bank of which 3 years is in a similar role
3. Open minded person with solid management and team working skill set
4. Good organizational, leadership, supervisory and negotiation skills
5. Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards
6. Professional demeanor
7. Experience monitoring marketplace to identify business opportunities
8. Technical expertise and knowledge of financial products
9. Effective listening, communication (verbal and written)
10. Sound business sense, entrepreneurial thinking, multi-functional understanding.
